DESCRIPTION:‘Knowledge of the Kamayurá People – Meeting with the Indigenous
People of the\nUpper Xingu\, Amazon’ – This is a good time to be in direc
t contact with Brazil’s\nindigenous peoples. Countless indigenous communit
ies are falling victim to\npersistent acts of violence perpetrated by farm
ers who are unwilling to accept\nthe defeat of the far-right candidate Fla
vio Bolsonaro.\n\nWe must support the cause of the indigenous peoples\, wh
o are largely responsible\nfor protecting the Amazon rainforest.\n\nFortun
ately\, the Kamaiurá people live in an area that enjoys greater protection
\nfrom the Brazilian authorities.\nSpending time with them and delving dee
per into Kamaiurá knowledge will also be\na way for us to show solidarity
with other indigenous peoples in Brazil.\n\nThe ancient Kamaiurá art & cul
ture The Kamayurá artists have travelled directly\nfrom the Amazon rainfor
est to the Netherlands\, and will be at the Munganga\nTheatre alongside th
	e director\, curator\, artist and researcher Andreia Duarte\n(founder and
director of Outra Margem) to share the knowledge of this ancient\nculture
through their stories\, which offer a worldview centred on health and\nwel
l-being. In addition to the stories\, we will give a brief musical\nperfor
mance\, which for the Kamayurá is not ‘merely’ music\, but rather the very
\nfoundation of their way of life. They are also accomplished graphic arti
sts\, and\nthey express their artistic language through bracelets and orna
ments that we\nwill bring along to sell. Taking part is a real and effecti
ve way of keeping the\nforest standing. A Outra Margem is a platform for a
rt and thought that explores\nthe power of art as an experience and a forc
e for social transformation.\nIts initiatives combine artistic creation\,
	curation and research\, with a focus\non challenging colonial structures\,
inequalities and various forms of violence.\nSaberes do Povo Kamayurá - E
a Flavio Bolsonaro.
tros povos indígenas do Brasil.\n\nA cultura milenar Kamaiurá\nOs artistas
