DESCRIPTION:Sti Sofita\n\nEen maandelijkse Griekse avond op zolder in De Ri
	chel met live rebetika-muziek\,\nheerlijk Grieks eten van Dina en natuurli
	jk ouzo en raki!\n\nRebetika is Griekse stedelijke muziek\, met zijn hoogt
	ijdagen in de jaren ’30.\nHet vindt zijn oorsprong in de Griekse gemeensch
	appen in Anatolië (Turkije) en\nmixt Anatolische en oosterse roots met wes
	terse invloeden. Het was de muziek van\nde arme vluchtelingen uit Turkije 
	die in de krottenwijken van Athene en Piraeus\nwoonden\, voor hen was het 
	een manier om uiting te geven aan hun heimwee naar hun\nachtergelaten gebo
	ortegronden. Muziek van de schaduwmaatschappij\, die verhaalt\nover kleine
	 dieven\, vetes\, drugs\, liefde en armoede. Sommigen noemen de teksten\ne
	en vorm van gangsta rap avant-la-lettre\, anderen zien er een beschrijving
	 in\nvan de ontberingen en smart van een leven aan de rand van de samenlev
	ing. Matsa\nRanga speelt liedjes die de hele periode van de rebetika omspa
	nnen\, van de\nondergrondse muziek van de vluchtelingen in de jaren 1930 t

	Athina Anagnostou (zang\, percussie) komt uit Ioannina. Ze studeerde aan d
	e\nconservatoria van Arta en Rotterdam en zingt al sinds haar 19e rebetika
	\, met\noptredens door heel Europa.\n\nThomas Huisman (bouzouki\, zang) ko
	mt uit Rotterdam en raakte verknocht aan de\nrebetika tijdenseen Erasmusui
	twisseling in Thessaloniki. Hij treedt in\nverschillende formaties op in z

	s\, and it was a way of\nreminiscing their abandoned hometowns. It was the
	 music of the underground\,\ntelling stories about petty thieves\, feuds\,
	 drugs\, love and poverty. Some call\nthe lyrics a form of gangster rap av
	ant-la-lettre\, others see in it a\ndescription of daily life filled with 
	hardships and sorrow on the fringes of\nsociety. Matsa Ranga plays songs s
	panning all of rebetiko’s history\, from\nunderground refugee music in the
	 1930’s to the more bohemian and socially\naccepted style of the 1950’s.\n
