DESCRIPTION:Filmhuis Cavia is a community-run cinema with more than forty y
ears of\nexistence. Part of that long history has been created together wi
th LGBTQ+\ncommunities who have gathered in our filmhuis to organise and w
atch different\nprograms and festivals such as TranScreen\, Roze Filmdagen
	\, Porn Film Festival\nAmsterdam\, Kissable Screens\, and several stand-al
one movies that center queer\npeople. \n\nFor this occasion we join effort
	s with Radio Radio [https://radioradio.radio] to\ncelebrate Amsterdam as a
WorldPride city\, bringing our summer outdoor cinema to\nWesterpark. On J
uly 31 and August 1\, we’ll screen a selection of films that are\nfestive\
, while also inviting us to reflect on topics such as patriarchy\, racism\
,\ncoloniality and heteronormativity through the lens of queerness.\n\nLoc
	ation: Radio Radio\nPazzanistraat 3\, Amsterdam\n\n\nSOUTHERN SORCERESSES
(Para Onde Voam as Feiticeiras)\nBeto Amaral\, Carla Caffé\, Eliane Caffé
	| 2020 | Brazil | 89’ | EN subtitles \n\nSouthern Sorceresses follows the
drift of performances and improvisations by\nseven queer artists through t
he streets of downtown São Paulo in a cinematic\nexperience that makes vis
ible the persistence of archaic gender and race\nprejudices in the common
imagination. At the heart of this polyphonic narrative\nis the importance
of political resistance through alliances of common struggle\nbetween LGBT
	QIA+ collectives\, black people\, indigenous people\, and homeless\nworker
	s.\n \n\nDEGENERE\nSara Asprilla Palomino | 2023 | Colombia | 19’ | EN sub
titles\n\nDorothy's dream was to perform on stage in a skirt and be recogn
ized as the\nwoman she was\, but she died before fulfilling it. Her best f
riend Misael\, a 60\nyear old gay man\, will make it happen. In Chocó\, th
e Colombian state with the\nlargest afro-descendant population and the hig
hest poverty rates\, Misael creates\nthe first queer folk dance group toge
ther with four trans women and four gay\nmen\, questioning their tradition
s that are defended by cultural values in order\nto erase their queerness.
