SUMMARY:Photo exhibition 'Where do you belong?' by Jonnah Bron
DTSTAMP:20260708T214849Z

DESCRIPTION:Where Do You Belong?\n\nWhere do you belong when home and ident
ity have never been simple questions?\n\nWhere Do You Belong? is a photogr
aphy exhibition by Jonnah Bron\n[http://www.jonnahbron.com/] featuring por
traits of queer adoptees in places\nwhere they feel most at home. Each par
ticipant selected a location that holds\npersonal meaning: a place of comf
	ort\, memory\, connection or belonging. Seated\nwithin these landscapes\,
they take their place in front of the camera and\nrespond\, in their own w
	ords\, to a single question: Where do you belong?\n\nFor some adoptees\, q
uestions of identity\, origin and belonging emerge early in\nlife. Growing
up between origins\, cultures\, families or countries can create a\nlifel
ong search for where—and with whom—you feel at home. For queer adoptees\,\
nthese questions may take on new dimensions as sexuality and gender identi
ty\nbecome part of that journey.\n\nRather than offering one shared narrat
ive\, Where Do You Belong? brings together\na collection of individual voi
ces. The photographs and accompanying texts reveal\ndifferent ways of navi
	gating identity\, chosen family\, visibility\, memory and\ncommunity. Some
	 participants find belonging in a landscape\, others in a city\, a\nrelati
onship or a memory. Together\, the works suggest that home is not always\n
where we begin\, but something we continue to create throughout our lives.
\n\nBy inviting each participant to choose a place where they feel at ease
\, the\nexhibition shifts the focus away from loss and towards presence. T
hese portraits\nare not only about searching for belonging\, but also abou
	t claiming space\, being\nseen\, and taking one's place in the world.\n\nW
here Do You Belong? is an invitation to reflect on the places\, people and
\ncommunities that make us feel at home -and on the many ways we create be
	longing\nfor ourselves and each other.\n\nJonnah Bron [http://www.jonnahbr
on.com/] (1994) is an Amsterdam-based\nphotographer and filmmaker. Working
	 from a documentary perspective\, she explores\nthemes of identity\, belon
ging\, intimacy and visibility. Her work is rooted in a\npersonal search f
or representation and often centres queer perspectives and\nlived experien
ce. For Where Do You Belong?\, she photographed queer adoptees in\nplaces
where they feel most at home.\n\nGalerij
