DESCRIPTION:Maison Avant Après is a new project that opens up a space for l
iterature on\nfashion. Maison Avant Après presents its debut collection Ha
ute Écriture during\nthis festive Evening full of poetry and performance\,
audiovisual spectacle and\ndanceable music.\n\nOn 20 November Maison Avan
t Après presents their first collection Haute\nÉcriture. The écrituriers o
f service turn their fascination for fashion into\nstrange and dazzling pi
eces full of paradoxes. The practitioner of haute\nécriture spends years g
athering enough impressions and spends hundreds of hours\non the tiniest d
etails. The pieces on show are made using complex techniques and\nparadoxi
cal feelings. We see how fashion dictates strict laws and conceals\noppres
sion\, but also offers possibilities to escape corsets and straightjackets
.\n\nDuring the presentation\, the Maison proudly shows the result of this
labour\,\nhoping to form an artistic avant-garde together with the audien
ce rather than a\nflock of passive fashion victims. There is no doubt that
fashion has the power\nto mobilise the masses\, but can the continuous me
tamorphosis on the catwalk\nbring about real\, substantial change?\n\nHurr
y to the front row!\n\nA programme by Perdu x Maison Avant Après\nHost: La
rs Meijer\nLanguage: EN/NL (during the Dutch parts\, English translations
are shown)\nDress code: Overdressed\n\nDewi de Nijs Bik relates to the Rad
ical Call for Love collection of fashion\ndesigner Marine Serre\, who took
the fashion world by storm a decade ago in the\naftermath of the attacks
in Paris and Brussels. What remains of this mobilizing\nenergy in 2026? An
d how do these remnants inscribe themselves into history? This\nnew poetry
work\, shaped through a process of upcycling\, will be presented by the\n
enigmatic model Ursula Newton and resonates within a larger stitchwork\,\n
alongside the poetry of Rahman Qul.\n\nRahman Qul presents his “G-Star RAW
69” as well as new poetry work\, turning\nmetropolitan Paris – global fas
hion capital – into an echo chamber for\npost-Soviet experiences and the s
tories of marginalized communities that have\nended up in Limburg. Through
the perspective of someone whose heart moves\nbetween cultures\, he shows
how people with limited means use fashion to shape\ntheir desire for a lu
xurious\, post-capitalist world. DAVID de prins created\naccompanying vide
o works.\n\nTim Fraanje provides a fashion commentary to Alessandro Michel
e’s debut-couture\nshow Valentino Vertigineux (2025)\, of which a rich sel
ection of video fragments\nis shown. What can this exorbitant parade teach
us about abundance and excess?\nLuuk Dolfijn joins on the drums. Tim and
Luuk bring musical closure to the\nevening by going on stage for a second
time as music duo Big Hare. They give a\ndemonstration of Solarcore\, a da
nceable method to manifest a magnificent\, solar\npowered future. The perf
ormance includes a display of futuristic solarcore\ncostumes made by desig
ner Jonathan Ho.\n\nRainer Diana Hamilton and Violet Spurlock are the writ
ers of the text What does\nit mean to be well-dressed? in which they explo
re the idea of fashion as a\ncollective dialogue. In their absence\, the a
udience will perform this polyphonic\nconversation introduced by host Lars
Meijer.\n\nDewi de Nijs Bik made her debut in 2023 with the poetry collec
tion Indolente (De\nArbeiderspers)\, which was nominated for the Grote Poë
zieprijs\, the Herman de\nConinckprijs\, and the C. Buddingh’-prijs and wa
s awarded the Henriette Roland\nHolstprijs 2026. Indolente is currently fe
atured at the Literature Museum as\npart of the exhibition “Because we hav
e lived and still exist” which explores\nliterary perspectives on the Indo
nesian independence.\n\nUrsula Newton was born in 2020 as the alternative
identity of a poet\, to use in\nthe fashion world. Ursula debuted at Paris
Fasion Week SS27 for Pauline Blind.\n\nRahman Qul – the pseudonym of Roma
	n Ansari (1995) is a poet\, thinker\, and\nvisionary. His name\, uprooted
from the (anti)poetical post-taliban tradition\nfrom the heart of Asia. Hi
s poetics are nourished by punk\, sampling en\nостранение\, as well as by
the fashion and visual language of houses like Maison\nMargiela. He works
	with fragmentation\, deconstruction\, and anti-aesthetics:\npoetry that is
deliberately unfinished\, asymmetrical\, and disruptive. His work\nhas pr
eviously appeared in Kluger Hans\, De Revisor and Hard//hoofd. In 2025\, h
e\nparticipated in the deBuren writing residency in Paris. He is currently
working\non his poetry debut.\n\nDAVID de prins is an artist who departs
from contradiction and imagination\,\nseeking serenity amidst constant est
rangement. As a mythical figure he moves\nbetween worlds and contradiction
s\, looking for a way to exist within them.\nCurrently he works on Don’t T
ouch My Hair\, an artistic research project\nsupported by Fonds ZOZ.\n\nAu
thors Rainer Diana Hamilton and Violet Spurlock together wrote This Reason
	able\nHabit\, a book-length poem. Over the course of a long phone call\, t
he two become\nhosts of an imaginary literary summit where attendees spar
	over casualwear\,\nanimal metaphors\, fascist art\, bodily autonomy\, and
other problems of the\neveryday. The authors will not be present\, but the
chapter What does it mean to\nbe well dressed will be performed through a
collective reading.\n\nTim Fraanje makes music\, teaches at a fashion ins
titute in Amsterdam and writes.\nHe worked for VICE as a societyjournalist
and for i-D as a fashion columnist. He\nalso had a trashy glamour column
on Hard//hoofd and wrote for De Architect. As\npart of the Solarcore proje
ct he writes futuristic E-sermons for a small but\ndevoted cult of followe
	rs.\n\nLuuk Dolfijn is a hundred percent fish\, half-boiled and half Big H
are. As a\nproducer he traces the edges of organised sound. At Stranded FM
he presents the\nLuuk Dolfijn Show.\n\nLuuk and Tim form the musical duo
Big Hare since 2012. They have performed at\nart spaces\, clubs and concer
	t venues including Worm\, Roodkapje\, 1646\, Arti\,\nSexyland World\, Ekko
\, Extrapool and Mudac. Last year their third album Sun House\nappeard on
Blowpipe Records. It is a collection of hymns for a post fossil solar\ncul
t\, in the genre of Solarcore. They hope to manifest a hedonistic future o
n\nsolar power\, wind power and will power.\n\nJonathan Ho is a Malaysian-
Dutch clothing and textile designer based in\nAmsterdam. Working across fa
shion\, costume and textiles\, his practice fuses\nEastern and Western aes
	thetics shaped by his cross-cultural background. Drawing\nfrom theatre\, s
	ubcultures\, historical dress\, and contemporary performance\, he\ncreates
garments that explore identity and cultural hybridity.
