DESCRIPTION:Talk Warming Up Festival\n\nThe influence of art on the climate
crisis\n\nArt is powerful. For centuries\, it has been used to convey pol
itical messages\,\nboth by those in power and by activists. Cartoons influ
ence elections\, and\npresidents censor museums. But how exactly does the
power of art work? In this\nprogramme\, we explore how art can influence p
ublic debate and policymaking\naround the climate crisis.\n\nWhat works\,
and what doesn’t? How can cultural institutions and artists\ncollaborate\,
what do they need from one another\, and who bears which\nresponsibilitie
s?\n\nAt Art = Power\, artists and cultural institutions come together to
explore these\nquestions through inspiring examples. The aim is to ensure
that the power of art\ncan be harnessed not only by those in power\, but b
y all of us.\n\nModerated by Dymphie Braun\, the conversation will bring t
ogether the following\nguests:\n\nPinopotato is a socially engaged artist
and visual strategist. She creates\nlarge-scale installations\, develops c
	reative concepts\, and is dedicated to\nmaking left-wing politics sexy.\n\
nBureau Vergezicht is a theatre company that creates investigative and imm
	ersive\nstories about power\, climate\, and responsibility\, including the
award-winning\nproduction De zaak Shell (The Shell Case). The company exp
lores the role of\nartists in a world facing the climate crisis\, encourag
ing citizens\,\nmultinational corporations\, and policymakers to reflect a
nd take action far\nbeyond the theatre.\n\nJurry Oortwijn is Head of Marke
ting and a member of the Management Team at\nParadiso\, Amsterdam’s iconic
music venue. He leads communications\, contributes\nto the organisation’s
strategic innovation\, and ensures that its cultural and\nsocial impact r
eaches both local and global audiences.\n\nSince its founding\, Paradiso h
as been much more than a concert venue: it brings\ntogether music and nigh
tlife with activism\, counterculture\, and open dialogue.\nJurry’s work bu
ilds on this legacy\, helping Paradiso remain both a stage for\nworld-clas
s artists and a platform for cultural and social exchange.\n\nThis year\,
Warming Up Festival is not asking how you can live more sustainably.\nIt i
s asking why so many people\, especially young people\, have tuned out of
a\nconversation that may affect them more than anyone.\n\nNot out of indif
ference\, but because of mental exhaustion. Because of climate\nanxiety an
d guilt. Because of a system that places the emphasis on individual\nrespo
nsibility\, while the biggest polluters and fossil fuel subsidies largely\
nremain out of the spotlight. And sometimes also because a climate movemen
	t that\nseems to demand perfection rather than participation.\n\nYou can’t
save the world alone. Fortunately\, you don’t have to. Warming Up\nFestiv
al therefore takes a different approach: solidarity instead of penance.\n\
nFor three days\, the festival brings together art\, journalism\, music an
d\nconversation around the question of how individual choices relate to sy
stems\nthat are largely beyond our control\, and where we can actually mak
e a difference\nas a collective. It is a festival that makes room for impe
rfection\, for doubt\nand for new forms of engagement.\n\nMore information
and the complete program can be found here\n[https://tolhuistuin.nl/speci

olitical influence of art and\nbrings together artists\, academics and org
