DESCRIPTION:OCCII ON TOUR! ORCHESTRE TOUT PUISSANT MARCEL DUCHAMP XXL @ WIL
	LEM DE\nZWIJGERKERK\, OLYMPIAWEG 14 AMSTERDAM.\n\nOrchestre Tout Puissant
Marcel Duchamp is a perpetually evolving ‘orchestra’\,\nloosely modelled o
n the great 20th-century African groups like Tout Puissant\nOrchestre Poly
-Rythmo de Cotonou and tipping its hat to revolutionary French\nartist Mar
cel Duchamp.\n\nNew album “Ventre Unique” – their sixth\, and the successo
r to 2021’s acclaimed\nWe’re Ok But We’re Lost Anyway – is as exuberant as
it is emotionally fraught\nwith a dream amalgam of folk\, krautrock\, pos
t-punk and African rhythms that\nfeels both uncluttered and beautifully or
ganic. The album has been released on\nBongo Joe Records (Vincent Berthole
t co-founded the label with Cyril Yeterian)\,\nwith band and label both sh
aring a collective vision that was forged from\nGeneva’s punk history and
squat scene. It finds them once again exploring\ncontemporary anxieties an
d setting them to music that balances fat\, loping\ngrooves – built around
simple loops written by Bertholet – sparkling marimba\,\nstrident horns a
nd strings with dissonance and angular guitar riffs. The\nbeautiful sleeve
art comes courtesy of French painter Dove Perspicacius. The\nrecording of
Ventre Unique took place over ten days in a studio near Paris\,\nStudio M
idilive in Villetaneuse\, and was overseen by Johannes Buff who mixed the\
nprevious “We’re Ok But We’re Lost Anyway.”\n\nThe orchestra is comprised
of an international cast of 12 musicians including\nmany OTPMD regulars: F
renchman Gilles Poizat on bugle\, lead vocalist Liz\nMoscarola\, two marim
ba players (Aïda Diop and Elena Beder)\, two drummers\n(Gabriel Valtchev a
nd Guillaume Lantonnet)\, guitarists (Romane Millet and Titi)\,\na trombon
	ist (Gif)\, a viola-player (Thomas Malnati-Levier)\, a cellist (Naomi\nMab
anda) and Bertholet on double bass. Every one of the musicians is a singer
\ntoo\, contributing to the glorious mass of vocals that gives OTPMD songs
their\nemotional resonance and ritualistic power. They also worked with n
ew vocalists:\nMara Krastina (who will be more involved with the group in
future) from Swiss\nband Massicot on Smiling Like A Flower and François Ma
rry from French group\nFrànçois and the Atlas Mountains – you can hear the
latter’s distinctively\nlilting tone on Tout Haut. Following the release
of We’re Ok But We’re Lost\nAnyway also on Swiss label Bongo Joe\, the gro
up – a travelling party of 14\npeople\, including two sound engineers – cr
ossed numerous borders themselves\,\nplaying around 150 shows and touring
	in territories they’d never visited before:\nCanada\, USA\, the Balkans\,
