DESCRIPTION:You are warmly invited to the opening of Wild Waters: Dams And
Deltas After\nModernity on Friday 19 June 2026 from 18:00 to 20:00. The ex
hibition is curated\nby Àngels Miralda and delineates the inextricable lin
ks between this natural\nlife source\, colonial expansion and territorial
exploitation. During the\nopening\, sound collective GalalaLive performs a
	 live set.\n\nGalalaLive [https://framerframed.nl/en/mensen/galalalive/] i
	s a dynamic sound\ncollective founded in 2019 by artist Abdo Zin Eldin\n[h
ttps://framerframed.nl/en/mensen/abdo-zin-eldin/]\, whose work is on show
in\nthe exhibition Wild Waters. The collective engages with sonic practice
s from\ncommunities in Egypt that are increasingly at risk of erasure\, re
-articulating\nthem through collaboration with international musicians and
sound artists.\nGalalaLive perform a live set titled Hai (حيّ)\, which ta
kes the form of a prayer\nor mantra intended to evoke accessibility to fre
sh water and resilience in\nchallenging times. The performance features im
provisation in sound and music\,\ndrawing inspiration from Egyptian Sufi z
ikr and Coptic chants\, particularly as\nexperienced during mawālid celebr
ations\, where rhythmic trance and collective\ndevotion emerge through bre

Waters: Dams And Deltas After Modernity (2026) explores the\ndual nature o
f water as both a life-sustaining resource and vector for political\npower
and environmental degradation across multiple contexts\, featuring works
by\nartists Jumana Emil Abboud\, Suzette Bousema\, Ewa Ciepielewska & Agni

Suat Öğüt\, Eunice\nPais\, Ashfika Rahman\, Morteza Soorani and Abdo Zin E
ldin.\n\nFor centuries\, inland water has been both a vital life source an
d a constant\nthreat to Dutch society. In response\, engineers have built
dikes\, canals\, and\nstorm surge barriers to protect land that lies below
sea level.\n\nDuring the era of global modernization\, dams and river inf
rastructure came to\nsymbolize progress. At the same time\, water has also
functioned as a method of\ndisplacement\, contributing to environmental i
nstability and\, in some cases\,\ncreating the conditions for catastrophic
flooding. Identifying it as both a\nnatural life source and a tool within
processes of colonial expansion and\nterritorial exploitation\, Wild Wate
rs reveals water’s deeply entangled role in\nshaping human and ecological
