DESCRIPTION:Come and join us at the opening of The Nature of Remembering. T
his group\nexhibition\, initiated by artist Lawil Karama in conversation w
ith historian\nMegan Hoetger\, features multimedia research projects that
move between\ninterrogation of normative memory politics and co-experiment
	ation with\nenvironmental and more-than-human bodies.\n\nThe exhibition ti
tle carries in it two meanings: on the one hand\, nature is\nevoked\, draw
ing focus to actants\, actors\, and animacies beyond and beside the\nhuman
	\, who witness\, participate in\, index\, recollect\, foretell\, and haunt
\nhistorical time. On the other hand\, the idiomatic expression the nature
of is\ntaken up as a provocation\, pushing against pervasive ideological
and violently\nenforced notions of remembering and of commemorating.Runnin
g through all\nprojects is a commitment to practices of frictioning: engag
ing technologies\nagainst their colonial grain\, and lingering in the affe
ctively\, ancestrally\,\narchivally\, and forensically intertwined conditi
ons of lived experience and\nknowledge production. Collectively\, the work
s ask: Who\, or what\, enframes and\nenlivens acts of remembering violence
\, which have been rendered invisible\,\nunspeakable\, and unthinkable?\n\
nThe exhibition features work by Samuel Baidoo\, Michèle Boulogne\, Laura
Fong\nProsper and Tin Wilke\, Lawil Karama\, Aram Lee\, Komtouch Napattalo
ong\, Bart Seng\nWen Long\, and Kaisa Saarinen.\n\nThis exhibition is gene
