DESCRIPTION:Join us for the opening of our new exhibition\, Heaving Room\,
initiated by Rustan\nSöderling. Taking place during Amsterdam Art Week\, t
his special occasion will\nfeature a performance by sound artist André Ave
lãs\, who will activate the\narchitecture of the exhibition.\n\nIncluding
works by Michelle Chang Qin\, Jame St Findlay\, Rosa Klerkx\, Bin Koh\,\nJ
ohn Smith\, Rustan Söderling\, Dan Walwin\, and Andoni Zamora\, the group
explores\nimprovised forms of connection\, support\, and kinship in a soci
ety where shared\nstructures seem to be shifting or unraveling.\n\nThrough
	 video works\, sculptures\, an installation\, and a series of digital\ndra
wings\, the exhibition maps personal and provisional ways of responding to
\nthis unstable reality. It shows unusual forms of cataloguing\, personal
rituals\,\nand the unintentional formations of communities.\n\nAndré Avelã
s is a sound artist who lives and works in Amsterdam. His works\n–performa
	nces\, sculpture\, installations\, and recordings– explore the ways in\nwh
ich sound is produced\, and how sound creates meaning in relation to space
and\nthe conditions under which it is heard. Central to his practice is a
focus on\nsound not as a carrier of content\, but as a malleable material
that shifts and\nchanges in relation to the methods and machines through
which it is generated\,\nreproduced and experienced.
