DESCRIPTION:What does the collage of your identity look like? Fragments of
Being\, curated by\nstudent-resident Lola Abbas\, explores how young peopl
e draw on cultural\ninfluences to shape and express their identities. Thei
r experiments with music\,\nstyle\, and creative expression are brought to
gether in this exhibition. Discover\ntheir work through sound and vision!\
n\nMusic and fashion serve as important means to express ourselves and fin
d a sense\nof belonging with likeminded peers. But what does it mean to be
long to a\nsubculture today\, when so much of our social and cultural life
takes place\nonline? How do we adopt and rework different influences to m
ake something of our\nown? And how might we consider identity formation as
	 a process of ‘sampling’\nfragments of cultural sources – like a mosaic\,
or collage of identity? Is\nsubculture\, to put it bluntly\, still alive?\
n\nAcross four interactive workshops\, participants from diverse backgroun
ds\nexplored these questions through creative work\, reflecting on how the
y shape and\nexpress their identities. The exhibition invites you to encou
nter their\nperspectives and discover how they bring fragments of differen
t cultural\ninfluences together into their own curations of self. Their wo
rk as such offers\na tangible contribution to the field of subcultural you
