DESCRIPTION:Expositie klimaat Warming Up Festival\n\nKadir van Lohuizen is
an internationally acclaimed photographer and filmmaker\nknown for his kee
n eye and ability to capture major social issues in a\ncompelling way. His
work focuses\, among other things\, on the consequences of\nrising sea le
	vels\, the global food industry\, and\, this time\, the global energy\ntra
nsition. Is this truly a transition\, and how does it work in practice? Wh
o\nbenefits from it\, and who suffers?\n\nOf course\, resources and profit
s are once again distributed unevenly\, especially\nwhen it comes to extra
cting the raw materials needed to build wind turbines and\nother forms of
green energy. Kadir investigated this as a filmmaker and\nphotographer\, g
aining access to places where no one else is allowed to go.\nThrough the c
ombination of the large artwork on the exterior wall and the video\ninside
\, you can see what he has been through\, what his perspective on the ener
gy\ntransition is\, and whether he has hope for the future of Amsterdam No
ord.\n\nWarming Up Festival\n\nThis year\, Warming Up Festival is not aski
ng how you can live more sustainably.\nIt is asking why so many people\, e
specially young people\, have tuned out of a\nconversation that may affect
them more than anyone.\n\nNot out of indifference\, but because of mental
exhaustion. Because of climate\nanxiety and guilt. Because of a system th
at places the emphasis on individual\nresponsibility\, while the biggest p
olluters and fossil fuel subsidies largely\nremain out of the spotlight. A
nd sometimes also because a climate movement that\nseems to demand perfect
ion rather than participation.\n\nYou can’t save the world alone. Fortunat
ely\, you don’t have to. Warming Up\nFestival therefore takes a different
approach: solidarity instead of penance.\n\nFor three days\, the festival
brings together art\, journalism\, music and\nconversation around the ques
tion of how individual choices relate to systems\nthat are largely beyond
our control\, and where we can actually make a difference\nas a collective
. It is a festival that makes room for imperfection\, for doubt\nand for n
ew forms of engagement.\n\nMore information and the complete program can b
	e found here\n[https://tolhuistuin.nl/specials/warming-up-festival].\n\nNE
W ENERGY Consists of a 30-meter-long artwork on the exterior wall of the\n

in\,\nnext to the stairs leading to the restaurant.\n\nThe wall is always
accessible\, and this artwork will be on view from November 5\,\n2026\, th
rough February 2027.\nThe video can be viewed during Tolhuistuin’s opening
	 hours (daily from 11:00\na.m. to midnight) starting November 19\, 2026\;
the end date is unknown.\n\nThe design for this work was created by LMNOP\
	, a multidisciplinary visual\ncommunication design studio.\nThe video was
	produced by Jesper Bauer (camera\, lighting\, sound\, editing)\, and\nthe
content editing was done by LMNOP and Eva Verboon.\n\nTogether\, these two
components form the artwork NEW ENERGY\, commissioned by\nTolhuistuin for
the Warming Up Festival.\n\nKadir van Lohuizen is an internationally accl
aimed photographer and filmmaker\nknown for his keen eye and ability to ca
pture major social issues in a\ncompelling way. His work focuses on topics
such as the consequences of rising\nsea levels\, the global food industry
