simply drop by to explore this special place.\n\n\nABOUT THE GREENHOUSE\n
\nThe greenhouse at the Metabolic Lab is a place where different water-sav
ing\nmethods of food cultivation are being tested\, both in soil and direc
tly in\nwater. The aim is to save water\, grow healthy organic food and ke
ep production\ncosts low. The systems are therefore built as much as possi
ble using simple\,\neasily sourced materials\, so that others can build th
em themselves as well.\n\nOne of the systems in the greenhouse is aquaponi
cs\, in which fish and plants\nwork together. The nitrogen-rich waste prod
uced by the fish is converted into\nnutrients for the plants. The plants\,
in turn\, clean the water\, which then flows\nback to the fish. This crea
tes a natural cycle.\n\nThe greenhouse also experiments with a range of ot
her cultivation methods\, all\nfocused on organic and sustainable food pro
duction in urban areas.\n\nGrower Andrei Becca has eight years of experien
ce growing plants\, including two\nyears working in one of the most advanc
ed greenhouses in the Netherlands. He is\ncurrently also pursuing a master
’s degree at Wageningen University\, focusing on\nwater conservation and m
	anagement.\n\nhttps://deceuvel.nl/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/WhatsApp-Vide
