n\nTime: 10:00 – 12:00\n\nAdmission: Just drop by. Visiting the greenhouse
is free.\n\nWhere: In the greenhouse at De Ceuvel\, on top of the Metabol
ic Lab. You can find\nit by taking the path to the left of the café and th
en going up the stairs.\n\n\nOPEN GREENHOUSE\n\nAt De Ceuvel\, you’ll find
a unique circular greenhouse: the Aquaponic\nGreenhouse. Curious about wh
at grows here and how the system works? Come and\ntake a look! During thes
e hours\, grower Andrei Becca will be there. You can:\n\n * get advice on
simple\, effective and robust ways to grow plants in your\n garden\, on
your balcony or windowsill\;\n * ask all your questions about modern food
production\, how greenhouses work and\n systems such as aquaponics and h
ydroponics\;\n * learn more about ecological pest control\;\n * help Andre
i with work in the greenhouse and learn by doing\;\n * or simply drop by t
o explore this special place.\n\n\nABOUT THE GREENHOUSE\n\nThe greenhouse
at the Metabolic Lab is a place where different water-saving\nmethods of f
ood cultivation are being tested\, both in soil and directly in\nwater. Th
e aim is to save water\, grow healthy organic food and keep production\nco
sts low. The systems are therefore built as much as possible using simple\
,\neasily sourced materials\, so that others can build them themselves as
well.\n\nOne of the systems in the greenhouse is aquaponics\, in which fis
h and plants\nwork together. The nitrogen-rich waste produced by the fish
is converted into\nnutrients for the plants. The plants\, in turn\, clean
the water\, which then flows\nback to the fish. This creates a natural cyc
le.\n\nThe greenhouse also experiments with a range of other cultivation m
ethods\, all\nfocused on organic and sustainable food production in urban
areas.\n\nGrower Andrei Becca has eight years of experience growing plants
\, including two\nyears working in one of the most advanced greenhouses in
the Netherlands. He is\ncurrently also pursuing a master’s degree at Wage
	ningen University\, focusing on\nwater conservation and management.\n\nhtt
