DTSTAMP:20261009T174914Z
DTSTART:20261121T190000Z
DESCRIPTION:Theater Muziek Warming Up Festival\n\nWelcome to the universe o
f Mx. CoelaCunt\, a fluid being that refuses to be\ncontained. Not by time
. Not by binary systems. Not by humans.\n\nMx. CoelaCunt will live forever
is a concert-performance in which creator\,\nmusician\, and performer Dju
wa Mroivili takes you into the depths. Into deep\nseas\, fractured roots\,
ancient rituals\, and new forms of resistance. Djuwa draws\nconnections b
etween Comorian traditions\, queer culture\, and the mysterious life\nof t
he deep sea - a world still largely unknown to humans.\n\nThe Comoros Isla
nds - where Djuwa traces a family history - is where the essence\nof this
journey unfolds: a place where oral traditions\, music\, and campy\nweddin
gs intertwine the past and present. A place where matriarchal and\npatriar
chal structures coexist. But also a place where European colonizers once\n
stigmatized existence itself - and erased the lives of those whose gender
and\nsexuality defied colonial norms.\n\nMx. CoelaCunt will live forever i
s a tribute to everything that moves\, shifts\,\nand refuses to disappear.
An ode to survival and the different ways we do this.\nThrough a fluid bl
end of musical languages\, fashion and glamour\, Djuwa creates a\nperforma
nce that is both healing and confrontational.\n\nInspiration Mx. CoelaCunt
\nMx. CoelaCunt is inspired by the coelacanth: a fish with a crucial role
in\nevolutionary theory. A fish with primitive lungs and fins that move li
ke the\nlimbs of land animals - unnoticed by European scientists\, but lon
g known to\nComorian fishers.\n\nThis concerns a performance for the Warmi
ng Up Festival. The performance is an\nadapted version: it features elemen
ts from the original show (including text\nfrom the show)\, in which Djuwa
talks about her research and shares musical\nexcerpts from the work. She
has also recently performed something similar at the\nFestival Down The Ra
bbit Hole.\n\nIn her study of the Comoros\, she has carried out extensive
research into musical\ntraditions and the link between those traditions an
d the resistance movement.\nShe draws a parallel with the existence of the
coelacanth\, a fish that has been\naround for millions of years and has w
itnessed all these changes from within its\ncaves. She will perform a numb
er of pieces from the show\, interspersed with\nmusic and narration about
the stories and the traces they have left behind in\nthe present day. The
work is inherently intersectional\, through her use of\nmusic\, the (theat
rical) texts she recites and (queer) fashion.\n\nIJzaal
