Whether\nthey were Greek people living in the Netherlands who rarely had access to newer\nGreek fil ms\, or Dutch cinephiles eager to explore a new cinematic experience\,\nfi lms screened during the first edition of GRFFNL attracted large crowds and \ncontinue to demonstrate why Greek cinema deserves to be recognized as a\ nsignificant force in contemporary film.\n\nThe festival took place in May \, but there are monthly screenings of Greek films\nthat take place in Fil mhuis Cavia throughout the year. Greek Film Festival presents:
A TALE OF A DIFFERENT CITY 



The first collaboration between Moons of Cavia and the Greek Film Festival in the Netherlands is here! GRFFNL started in 2026 at Filmhuis Cavia and was warmly welcomed by audiences in the Netherlands. Whether they were Greek people living in the Netherlands who rarely had access to newer Gre ek films, or Dutch cinephiles eager to explore a new cinematic experience, films screened during the first edition of GRFFNL attracted large crowds and continue to demonstrate why Greek cinema deserves to be recognized as a significant force in contemporary film.

The festival took place i n May, but there are monthly screenings of Greek films that take place in Filmhuis Cavia throughout the year. To kick off this season, we are screen ing Social Decay, a radical silent film about the political and e thical crises in Athens during the turbulent period between the two World Wars. 

The screening of Social Decay will be accompan ied by a live original score, composed and performed by acclaimed Greek fi lm composer Dimitra Alexiou, created especially for this occasion.

Dinos is a poor university student. Due to a lack of money, he drop s out of his studies and goes looking for a job. He finds work as an actor with a theater company and falls in love with the lead actress. After she leaves the theater in search of greater success, Dinos also quits and end s up among the poor workers. Through this, he discovers the exploitation t hat workers must endure and starts a union to fight for social justice.

Dimitra Alexi ou is a film composer, born in Greece and now based in the Netherlands. Sh e has been working in film for the past few years, having already several credits for her work in short films, both in Greece and the Netherlands. W hen she is working on a film she always finds the message and style of the film, so as to support it with the best musical style possible. She has e xperimented with many genres (social drama, drama, horror) and many forms of films, such as documentaries, fiction films, animation films. Her style is diverse, combining a hybrid texture of electronic and acoustic element s to provide a unique atmosphere for every film.
