DESCRIPTION:MINORIE PRESENTS: THE FRINGES OF FOLK AND EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC\;
	KATYA SHIRSHKOVA +\nTOMÁŠ NIESNER + KOUDE\n\nKatya Shirshkova\n\nBorn in S
iberia but based in France\, Katya Shirshkova uses her own voice to\ncreat
e hypnotising polyphonic harmonies with layered compositions and dense\npe
rformances. During this night she will perform her piece ‘Le Héron’\, whic
h was\nreleased on Stellage in 2025.\n\n‘Le Héron’ is a vocal only piece c
onsisting of four parts\, each carrying its own\nsymbol of a life period.
These life periods refer to the images of different\nbirds\, a way of narr
ating that connects to old archetypes from legends and\nfairytales. In thi
s sense ‘Le Héron’ creates a strong relation with folk\ntraditions\, which
influence can be recognised throughout the piece. But above\nall\, it is
the intricately layered sound of her one-voice-one-looper choir that\nmake
s the experience so hauntingly beautiful.\n\nKatya Shirskova has performed
extensively throughout Europe but this is the\nfirst time she will perfor
m in The Netherlands. A collaborative album with\nRoxane Métayer – who per
formed at Minorie in September 2025 – was released on\nEdições CN in June
	2026.\n\nhttps://shirshkova.com/ [https://shirshkova.com/]\nhttps://shirsh

	om/album/le-heron-a-reuni-o]\n\nTomáš Niesner\n\nFrom Central Europe comes
Czech guitarist and sound artist Tomáš Niesner. On his\nlatest album ‘adv
entous mmxxv’ he takes the calming\, somewhat majestic\natmospheres of Eas
tern European medieval hymns and turns them into minimalist\nguitar compos
itions with subtle layers of electronics.\n\nTomáš Niesner made a name for
himself in folk and fingerpicking guitar circles\nas part of the duo Šima
nský Niesner as well as a solo artist with several\nreleases on Czech labe
l Stoned To Death. On these albums influences from\nAmerican Primitive and
English and European folk music come together. With\n‘adventous mmxxv’ he
turns his gaze to Eastern Europe\, taking songs from old\nhymn books and
reimagining them for a completely different time and instrument\,\npreserv
ing only the core\, the deepest meaning. What remains are timeless\,\nsoot
hing melodies that ground us in an unsteady world.\n\nhttps://tomniesner.b

	g folk\, slowcore\, ambient and\ndrone\, folding these elements together w
ith a quiet patience that resists easy\ncategorization. In this formation
Michiel Klein\, Keimpe Koldijk and Ester Venema\nare building on their pre
vious collaborations in acts such as Blessum\n(Vrystaete)\, Eklin (Night P
eople) and Mike Koldin (Samling). The trio works with\nelectric guitars\,
	bass guitar\, synthesizers\, sparse percussion and occasional\nvoice.\n\nh
