anyone interested in how mindfulness exercises work in practice.\nDo you
notice wandering thoughts when playing or listening to music at a\nconcert
? This short workshop can offer insight into dealing with thoughts you\ndo
n't want to have at that moment.\n\nSpecific\, simple techniques from the
8-week MBSR training that are helpful for\nboth musicians and anyone exper
iencing stress. With interactive exercises.\nPeter will briefly revisit th
e essential principles of his combined\nMindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
(MBSR) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy\n(ACT) courses that he did f
or CvA\, called “Mindful Practice”.\n\nHe will also shortly introduce two
influential perspectives on how the brain and\nnervous system respond to c
hallenge: Paul Gilbert’s evolutionary model of the\nthree interacting emot
ional systems and Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory.\n\nPeter will then int
roduce his own practical model: Awareness of the ThreePart\nBody\, which i
s directly helpful on the stage.\nThe lecture will conclude with a series
of simple\, memorable exercises that can\nbe practised in daily life and a
pplied directly before and during stressful\nperformances.
