DTSTART:20250929T183000Z
DESCRIPTION:Violist Michael Gieler and pianist Lauretta Bloomer have been p
erforming\ntogether since 1986. Their long-standing musical friendship has
brought them to\nconcert halls across Europe — including Splendor\, where
they now return with a\nrich and varied programme of German music for vio
la.\n\nThe programme features works by three composers who each gave the v
iola a\ndistinctive voice. Johann Sebastian Bach — who played the viola hi
mself — wrote\nhis Gamba Sonata in G minor\, BWV 1029 with a depth and tex
ture that translates\nbeautifully to the viola. Robert Schumann’s Märchenb
ilder\, composed specifically\nfor viola and piano\, are among the most po
etic and intimate works in the\nRomantic chamber music repertoire. And Pau
l Hindemith’s Der Schwanendreher is\nperhaps the viola concerto of the 20t
	h century — bold\, witty\, and originally\nwritten for viola and orchestra
\, here performed in a powerful arrangement for\npiano.\n\nProgramme:\nJ.S
. Bach: Sonata for Gamba in G minor\, BWV 1029\nR. Schumann: Märchenbilder
