	ity of Paris III–Sorbonne\nNouvelle\, obtained the agrégation in modern li
	terature\, and taught in\nSeine-Saint-Denis and abroad. In 2010 he publish
	ed his debut novel HHhH\, for\nwhich he received the Prix Goncourt for bes
	t first novel. This was followed by\nRien ne se passe comme prévu (2012)\,
	 The Seventh Function of Language (2015)\,\nwhich won the Prix du roman Fn
	ac and the Prix Interallié\, and Civilizations\n(2019)\, which received th
	e Grand Prix du roman de l’Académie française.\n\nJoost de Vries (1983) is
	 editor of the Volkskrant Sunday supplement. He is also\none of the regula
	r contributors to the literary podcast BoekenFM and the author\nof the acc
	laimed novels Clausewitz\, The Republic (winner of the Golden Owl\nAward)\
	, Old Masters\, and the short story collection Calm Down\, Tiger. In 2023\
	,\nDe Vries was awarded the Frans Kellendonk Prize for his entire body of
