DESCRIPTION:Sir David Attenborough turned 100 on 8 May 2026. Over this cent
ury\, our planet\nhas undergone an extraordinary transformation and now si
ts at the edge of\ncollapse\, facing the existential risk of planetary des
truction. So what does the\nsoothing\, huggable baritone of David Attenbor
ough have to do with it?\n\nIn this edition of Landing Sites we take a cri
tical look at his work. Using his\nearly series Zoo Quest (1954-1963) [htt
	ps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoo_Quest] as\na starting point\, we'll trace h
ow nature documentary-making is entangled with\nimperial and colonial proc
esses\, and how his voice and way of storytelling\ncreates a false separat
ion from nature. \n\nWhat does it mean to speak in the voice of Attenborou
gh? What power do stories\nabout nature hold? How are they constructed\, a
nd who gets erased from these\nstories? How do they shape human–nature rel
ationships?\n\nPlease join us in our reading group sessions by signing up
via the form. \n\nDuring each session we will read short text extracts\, w
atch video material\, and\nlisten closely to Attenborough's voice. No prep
aration or prior experience is\nneeded\, we go through the material togeth
er and share informally about what\ncomes up from doing so.
