	ena Leraba is the stage name of Teboho Mochaoa\, a musician and shepherd f
	rom\nMatholeng\, a village in the Mafeteng region south of Lesotho’s capit
	al\, Maseru.\nIn 2017\, Morena Leraba formed his eponymous group in Johann
	esburg with other\nmusicians\, blending traditional Sesotho music with cro
	ss-cultural influences to\nmould a singular sound imbued with the enigma o
	f a shepherd from Lesotho\nmountains.\n\nOver the past nine years\, Morena
	 Leraba has become a globally recognized figure\nthrough a genre-defying s
	ound (inspired by Famo music from Lesotho) propelled by\nelectrifying live
	 performances\, high-profile collaborations\, and his 2023 debut\nrecord\,
	 Fela sa Ha Mojela. Released by The Good Times Co and Permanent Record\,\n
	the EP pays tribute to the songs of his home region\, capturing his abilit
	y to\nfuse Famo-inspired vocals with diverse musical influences into a sou
	nd that is\npsychedelic\, entrancing\, and dynamic.\n\nFamo\, a sub-genre 
	of Sesotho traditional music and poetry\, is deeply rooted in\nMorena Lera
	ba’s home district of Mafeteng and was introduced as early as the\n1920s w
	hen Basotho men were migrant labourers in the South African mines. “I\nund
	erstand Famo\,” he says. “But because we also have influences from elsewhe
	re\,\nI guess I’ve been reimagining Sesotho traditional music. Coming to J
	ohannesburg\nand meeting the musicians who have shaped this journey was\, 
	in a way\, the\nmanifestation of that reimagination.”\n\nHis alter-ego\, i
	magery\, and lyrics celebrate the shepherd’s charisma\, weaving\ntogether 
	narratives of rural lifewith reflections on his experiences in\nJohannesbu
	rg and beyond. Fela sa Ha Mojela is enriched by the voices of fellow\nBaso
	tho migrant workers whom he commutes with\, and whose stories inform its\n
	themes: “These are stories of migration. Labour in the informal sector.\nJ
	ohannesburg and its hardships. Hope. Finding strength and courage. Spiritu
	al\ncalling. Death\, and having to live with the memory of loved ones.”\n\
