DESCRIPTION:Warming Up Festival\n\nWho Bears the Crisis? A Tribunal on Clim
ate and Sudan\n\nWhile we talk about the future\, Sudan’s present is disap
pearing. Since 2023\, war\nhas torn the country apart: more than 150\,000
people killed\, 11 million\ndisplaced\, and more than half of the populati
on facing hunger. But beneath this\nwar lies a second crisis that is rarel
y mentioned: the climate crisis\, which has\nbeen putting increasing press
ure on land\, water\, and livelihoods for years\,\nwhile also fueling viol
ence. In the international climate debate\, Sudan remains\nvirtually invis
ible. We want to change that.\n\nOn November 21\, we will put that silence
on trial. Instead of a panel discussion\nwith polite disagreements\, ther
e will be a confrontational tribunal: a moderator\nwho theatrically opens
the case\, three prominent prosecutors who each bring\nevidence to the tab
le from their own area of expertise\, and an audience that\nactively helps
decide the outcome. Each statement addresses a different layer of\nthe sa
me question: who is responsible for what is happening to Sudan today? The\
nWest\, which emitted greenhouse gases for decades and is now passing the
bill on?\nGovernments and power structures that are failing themselves? In
ternational\nnetworks that profit from war and natural resources? Or “the
system\,” that\nvague\, nameless entity behind which everyone can hide?\n\
nThe answer to the question of responsibility will also shape Sudan’s futu
re.\n\nAfter each statement\, the audience will receive a red and a green
card. Do you\nagree\, or not? There is no sitting back and watching\, beca
use as a global\ncitizen and participant\, you become part of the jury—and
your verdict counts.\n\nWe will close with an open microphone: a space fo
r everyone in the room to\nbriefly share their own plea or perspective. Th
is conversation is for anyone who\nbelieves that looking away is no longer
an option.\n\nColonialism\, climate change\, and war are not separate cha
pters\; they are the\nsame case\, one that has so far only been viewed fro
m different witness stands.\nHere\, we turn that around. We ask you to jud
ge\, because this is your world too.\n\nCome\, watch\, cast your vote\, an
d speak out. Who bears the crisis? You decide\nSudan’s future.\n\nThis pro
gram is created by three young makers:\n\nHadeel El Mobashr is a student\,
photographer\, and board member of Sudan Connect\,\nwhere she works to ra
ise awareness about Sudan.\n\nSaffa Khalil is a PhD candidate at Erasmus U
	niversity\, where she researches\nBlack radical traditions\, transnational
solidarity\, and alternative media as\nspaces of knowledge. She has a bac
kground in African Studies\, History\, and\nHeritage & Memory. She is also
an activist and has previously contributed to\nprograms focused on Sudan.
\n\nZahra Sebbar is a master’s student in Political Science and Internatio
nal\nRelations\, as well as a writer and speaker. She connects people’s li
ved\nexperiences with the systems of government and public administration\
, drawing in\npart on her experience with the Dutch childcare benefits sca
ndal. In 2026\, she\nwas selected by Het Parool as one of Amsterdam’s 26 y
oungest talents. She is\nco-founder of Stichting (Gelijk)waardig Herstel a
nd RiSE.\n\nAll three approach this from a diasporic perspective or a shar
ed point of\nconnection: not talking about Sudan\, but drawing on the know
ledge and\nexperiences of people who are directly connected to it.\n\nZonz
