DTSTAMP:20261106T002635Z
DTSTART:20270108T183000Z
DESCRIPTION:None\n\nJohnny & the Dinosaurs create a 'prehistoric' blend of
indie and folk. Led by\nguitarist and songwriter Johnny\, the band combine
s a handful of cowboy chords\nwith lyrics about love and loss\; perfect fo
r fans of laid-back rhythms and slant\nrhymes.\n\nBehind the moniker 'John
ny' lies Joost Abbel (Amsterdam\, 1985)\, a long-time\nfixture in the musi
c scene\, known for his work as a guitarist with acts such as\nZorita\, Di
eter van der Westen\, and Juan Juan. In 2020\, he decided to record his\no
wn songs for the first time. He refined his lyrics\, transformed lo-fi pho
	ne\nrecordings into full-fledged arrangements\, and\, following a successf
	ul\ncrowdfunding campaign\, realized his dream: a debut album on vinyl\, t
	itled\n'Collecting Dinosaurs'.\n\nFor 'Other Plans'\, Johnny & the Dinosau
rs collaborated with producer Casper van\nder Lans (known for his work wit
h Personal Trainer\, Astronaut\, and Pip Blom).\nThe tracks sit at the int
ersection of indie and folk\, with the band injecting a\nhealthy dose of '
twang' through the use of baritone guitars\, pedal steel\, and\nsaxophone.
Merlijn Verboom (guitar/bass) and Gijs Anders van Straalen (drums)\nform
the core of the band alongside Johnny. Sophie Janna and Margot Merah of th
e\nduo The Lasses\, complement Johnny’s raw\, unpolished vocals with their
pristine\nharmonies. The record also features guest contributions from Ai
dan & the Wild\n(pedal steel)\, Jasper Geluk (organ)\, Robert Koomen (bass
)\, and Mart Boumans\n(saxophone)\, all of which help create a diverse son
ic landscape. The album was\nmastered by Wessel Oltheten (Spinvis\, DeWolf
f\, Elephant) and is set for release\non double vinyl on January 8\, 2027.
