DESCRIPTION:In the lead-up to International Women’s Day\, we warmly invite 
	you for a quick\ndose of brainfood. During this 30-minute lunch talk\, we’
	ll sit down with Barnita\nBagchi and take a dive into the stories of Rabin
	dranath Tagore\, a pioneering\nvoice who wrote powerfully about women’s au
	tonomy in colonial Bengal. We’ll\nclose the programme with a spoken word p
	erformance by Asmae Amaddaou. Take a\nbreak with free sandwich\, learn som
	ething new and take a moment to reflect on\nInternational Women’s Day and 
	the many stories that still need telling.\n\n\nABOUT THE PROGRAMME\n\nRabi
	ndranath Tagore\, 1861-1941\, Nobel Prize-winning author\, poet\, educator
	\, and\nsocial experimenter to boot\, wrote many short stories that femini
	st and gender\nstudies scholars find compelling. Barnita Bagchi has transl
	ated three of his\nshort stories from Bengali for an Oxford World Classics
	 edition of Tagore’s\nselected short stories forthcoming this spring\, edi
	ted by Sumit Chakrabarti.\n\nIn this talk\, she will speak on how both mas
	culinity and femininity are\nanatomised in these short stories\, with spec
	ial attention to a short story\ntitled “The Judge”.\n\nThe talk is curated
