DESCRIPTION:The Dogger Bank is the ecological heart of the North Sea: it is
a vital breeding\nground and a hugely nutrient-rich area for countless sp
	ecies\, including minke\nwhales\, porpoises\, grey seals\, gannets\, puffi
ns and various mussels. Yet very\nfew people are familiar with the area. T
his is'nt surprising\, as it is remote\nand what happens at sea is visible
to very few people. At the same time\, the\nDogger Bank ecosystem – despi
te its protected status – is under threat and being\ndegraded\, for exampl
e by oil extraction and offshore wind farms.\n\nThe Dogger Bank needs more
voices and representatives to ensure its protection\nand monitoring. But
how can we relate to a place that is so far away and\ninaccessible? And ho
w can you help protect such a place? We will explore this\ntogether during
the workshop How to be close to the sea?. During the workshop\,\nyou will
learn to look at the connection between people and water – the IJ and\nth
e North Sea – in a different way. We will also explore creative methods fo
r\nsharing perspectives on the Dogger Bank\; what concerns are there? From
your\nperspective as a human? And from the perspective of other life form
	s\, such as\nthe seal?\n\n\nENFORCE\n\nIn Enforce\, Waag is investigating
how residents can help to better protect the\nDogger Bank through citizen
science. This event is the first in a series of\nactivities organised by W
