SUMMARY:Grassroots Communication Infrastructure Deployment: Build a Radio N
	etwork from Microntrollers!
DTSTAMP:20260701T205048Z
DTSTART:20260704T163000Z
DESCRIPTION:The goal of the workshop is to build a radio network linking th
ree buildings at\nTBD.  Participants learn how to make cheap and simple Re
ticulum transport nodes\nthat can be deployed anywhere.  Our telecommunica
tion infrastructure will be\nusing unlicensed LoRa frequencies and run on
cheap chips called\nmicrocontrollers.\n\nThe key to environmentally and ec
onomically sustainable community networks is\ncheap and simple nodes.  Mes
h protocols like Meshtastic and Meshcore already run\non microcontrollers
	without a need for a laptop\, single-board computer or mobile\nphone.  Thi
s became a possibility with Reticulum as well recently\, due to\nfirmware
that can run the whole protocol stack on an MCU.\n\nIn this workshop we te
st these new firmware\, with special focus on RTNode\nfirmware for the Hel
tec V4 board.  The workshop builds on the Friday\nintroductory workshop\,
so it assumes familiarity with the Reticulum Network\nStack (RNS).  Partic
ipants can develop their nodes further at the RNS solar\nrelay workshop th
	e next day (Sunday).\n
