DTSTAMP:20261029T022644Z
DTSTART:20261121T193000Z
DESCRIPTION:Muziek\n\nBottled Violence is a five-piece noise punk band form
ed at the Rock City\nInstitute in Eindhoven. During their live shows\, the
	y transform into an\noverwhelming wall of raw feedback\, fuzz\, screamed v
ocals and pounding drums.\nTheir lyrics often tackle themes such as monarc
hy\, capitalism and human rights.\nThis political engagement has been evid
ent in their performance at a housing\nrights protest in Eindhoven and the
ir shows in squats. The band’s influences\ninclude Minor Threat\, Dead Ken
nedys and Sonic Youth.\n\nThis year\, Warming Up Festival is not asking ho
w you can live more sustainably.\nIt is asking why so many people\, especi
ally young people\, have tuned out of a\nconversation that may affect them
more than anyone.\n\nNot out of indifference\, but because of mental exha
ustion. Because of climate\nanxiety and guilt. Because of a system that pl
aces the emphasis on individual\nresponsibility\, while the biggest pollut
ers and fossil fuel subsidies largely\nremain out of the spotlight. And so
metimes also because a climate movement that\nseems to demand perfection r
ather than participation.\n\nYou can’t save the world alone. Fortunately\,
you don’t have to. Warming Up\nFestival therefore takes a different appro
ach: solidarity instead of penance.\n\nFor three days\, the festival bring
	s together art\, journalism\, music and\nconversation around the question
of how individual choices relate to systems\nthat are largely beyond our c
ontrol\, and where we can actually make a difference\nas a collective. It
is a festival that makes room for imperfection\, for doubt\nand for new fo
rms of engagement.\n\nMore information and the complete program can be fou
	nd here\n[https://tolhuistuin.nl/specials/warming-up-festival].\n\nGirls t
o the Front is a Utrecht-based initiative focused on the representation\no
f FLINTA people in the Dutch punk music scene. It began as an event on 8 M
arch\nat dB's\, organised by Bibi Fay Bannink\, an 18-year-old feminist pu
nk fan with a\nplan. It grew into Girls to the Front\, a compilation LP fe
aturing 14 punk bands\nwith FLINTA frontwomen\, released at EKKO on 8 Marc
	h. This was followed by a tour\nacross the Netherlands\, including shows a
	t Paradiso\, VERA Groningen\, Rotown and\nWilde Weide\, as well as a DJ se
t at Down The Rabbit Hole.\n\nGirls to the Front not only celebrates the d
iverse punk sounds created by FLINTA\npeople making themselves heard acros
s the country\, but also seeks to explore the\nintersectional struggles an
d sources of inspiration people encounter\, whether\nthrough making zines
or organising more interdisciplinary events featuring\npoetry\, film discu
ssions and panel talks.\n\nGirls to the Front hopes to build a community o
f FLINTA people who can mosh\ntogether without constantly having to guard
themselves against male dominance in\nspaces like these. Drawing inspirati
on from the Riot Grrrl movement\, the\ninitiative connects its legacy to c
ontemporary issues and struggles. Above all\,\nGirls to the Front wants to
bring FLINTA people to the forefront and create\nspace for them to scream
\, mosh together and celebrate their identities through\npunk\, both as a
music genre and as a way of life.\n\nZonzij
