	ll tear down walls in the\nfuture?\n\nOn 18 June 2026\, the Duitsland Inst
	ituut Amsterdam will host the Falling Walls\nLab Amsterdam as part of its 
	30th anniversary.\n\nDuring this Science Slam\, students and early-career 
	professionals will pitch\ntheir innovative and groundbreaking idea or rese
	arch in 3 minutes to a\nprofessional jury. The central question is:\n\n“Fo
	llowing the fall of the Berlin Wall\, where will walls come down and\nbrea
	kthroughs occur in the near future?”\n\nThe winner will travel to Berlin i
	n November for the Falling Walls Global\nFinale.\n\nThe jury consists of: 
	Anahit Galstyan (Head of Agronomy\, Operations Technology\,\nat BASF| Nunh
	ems)\, Thomas Walter (Policy Officer at the German Embassy The\nHague)\, L
	eah Niederhausen (PhD candidate Restitution\, Archives and Historical\nJus
	tice at the University of Humanistic Studies)\, Felix Bohr (Journalist at\
	nGerman weekly Der Spiegel) and David Caspar Peter (Associate Professor in
	\nFinancial Accounting at the Erasmus University Rotterdam).\n\n\nSPEAKERS
	\n\nEllen Ipenburg Tomesen (moderator) has been working at the Dutch Embas
	sy in\nBerlin for four years and is Head of the Science and Education Team
	. She is also\naccredited to Switzerland. Prior to this\, she worked on va
	rious international\ndossiers and themes for the Dutch Ministry of Educati
	on\, Culture and Science.\n\nJury:\n\nAnahit Galstyan is a Plant Geneticis
	t with extensive international experience\nspanning both academia and indu
	stry. Currently\, she leads a global\,\nmultidisciplinary Agronomy team at
	 OTEC within BASF | Nunhems. In this role\,\nthey focus on scouting\, deve
	loping\, and implementing innovative technologies\nthat enable efficient a
	nd reliable seed production across diverse crops. They\npartner closely wi
	th crop seed production teams worldwide to address production\nchallenges\
	, enhance operational efficiency\, and improve overall productivity.\n\nFe
	lix Bohr is a historian\, author and journalist. He studied history and\nC
	atholic theology in Berlin and Rome. He has been working for the news maga
	zine\nDer Spiegel since 2012 and currently heads the history department.\n
	\nLeah Niederhausen is a historian and PhD Candidate at the University of\
	nHumanistic Studies\, Utrecht. She conducts research into the restitution 
	of\ncolonial archives\, focusing on the (re)production of historical knowl
	edge\,\nnarratives\, and justice.\n\nCaspar David Peter is an Associate Pr
	ofessor in Financial Accounting. He joined\nthe Rotterdam School of Manage
	ment after completing the PhD Program at WHU –\nOtto Beisheim School of Ma
	nagement in 2015 and holds a Diploma (MSc equivalent)\nin Business and Eco
	nomics from the Ruhr University Bochum. His research interest\nfocus on ec
	onomic consequences of transparency and combine the fields of\nfinancial a
	ccounting and economics.\n\nThomas Walter is the Cultural Affairs Officer 
	at the German Embassy in The\nHague\, with many years of experience in the
	 fields of event management and book\nretail.
