SUMMARY:Exhibition: The Last Iceberg
DTSTAMP:20261022T192317Z
DTSTART:20270115T093000Z
DESCRIPTION:The sculpture The Last Iceberg looks like a small\, broken-off
segment of a much\nlarger iceberg that has accidentally drifted into Amste
rdam\, following the IJ\nriver. All the other icebergs have melted. This i
s the only one left.\n\nFor many people\, climate change remains an abstra
ct and elusive problem. This\ninstallation\, ‘The Last Iceberg’\, translat
es a global problem into a local\,\nphysical experience for a wide audienc
e.\n\nThe work can be seen as a form of visual activism without being expl
	icitly\nmoralising. It raises questions\, perhaps raises awareness\, and i
nvites\ndiscussion.\n\nStudio Smulders is an art production company that f
ocuses primarily on the\ncreation of three-dimensional\, monumental works
of art for public spaces. In\naddition\, the studio produces small-scale a
rt objects in two- and\nthree-dimensional forms\, or specifically in a com
bination of both.\n\nThe studio works with a wide range of diverse materia
	ls\, from natural raw\nmaterials such as straw\, clay\, and willow twigs t
	o bronze\, PETG\, and light.The\nartworks vary in form\, scale\, and meani
	ng\; some have a distinctly activist\ncharacter.\n\nFor many projects\, a
team is assembled consisting of specialists and experts\nfrom various disc
iplines. This creates a collaborative partnership tailored to\neach projec
	t\, bringing together art\, knowledge\, creativity\, and craftsmanship.\nG
odelieve Smulders is the art director and initiator of the projects.\n\nEx
