DESCRIPTION:Heritage and Horizon brings the diversity of the Moroccan-Dutch
identity and\ncommunity to life in an exhibition featuring works by vario
us artists. Step into\nthe world of these artists and discover stories abo
ut identity\, cultural\nheritage and belonging\, situated in a broader his
	torical context.\n\nHeritage and Horizon\, curated by student-in-residence
Mohamed El-Hirech\,\nhighlights the diversity of the Moroccan-Dutch ident
ity and community through\nart and personal stories. The exhibition is str
uctured as a journey through\ntime: as a visitor\, you begin at the histor
ical starting point of the Moroccan\npresence in the Netherlands and move
	– through contemporary artistic\nperspectives – towards a general reflecti
on on the future. Throughout the\nexhibition\, you are invited to reflect
on the following questions: what does\ncultural identity actually mean? Wh
en does one feel at home somewhere? Who\ndecides what it means to be part
of something?\n\nHeritage and Horizon is a multimedia exhibition that brin
	gs together\, amongst\nother things\, photography\, video and visual art b
y artists from various\ndisciplines. The works demonstrate that identity i
	s multi-layered\, fluid and\ncomplex. In this way\, Heritage and Horizon c
ontributes to a more nuanced and\nmultifaceted understanding on Moroccan-D
utch identities compared to the often\nstereotypical views that dominate p
ublic debate.\n\nIn parallel with the exhibition\, weekly public programmi
ng takes place. These\ncultural programmes include a film screening\, an i
nteractive panel discussion\nand a henna workshop. The project invites vis
itors to not only look through the\nart works\, but also engage in convers
ation\, discover new perspectives and\nactively take part.\n\n\nOPENING PR
