DESCRIPTION:A two-part program that centers the plant-ally Saint-John’s-Wor
t and the queer\npoetics it offers. Join artists Sasa Ghanem-Chaney\, Jule
s Davis-Dufayard\, and\nA.E.Z Pinay for an afternoon of queer collective c
are. In the evening there will\nbe a special gathering with plant offering
	s\, a sonic mediation\, and a concert by\nQueer Choir Amsterdam.\n\nearthl
y suns is a multidisciplinary research project\, developed by Jules\nDavis
-Dufayard and Sasa Ghanem-Chaney\, that departs from a shared love towards
\nthe plant Saint-John’s-Wort\, and a shared love for communal singing. To
gether\nthey have embarked on a long-term research around this plant-ally
since summer\n2025\, inspired by the queer poetics it offers as it grows p
owerful and unnoticed\nbetween Amsterdam’s pavements. They hope to develop
land and body based seasonal\npractices which are relevant to the current
context of late-stage racial\ncapitalism\, and which can contribute to th
e physical\, emotional and spiritual\nnourishment of current social change
movements. This research takes form through\nherbalism\, storytelling\, t
rauma-informed care practices\, and vocal somatics\n(Deep Listening). The
earthly suns workshop and gathering emerge from their\nresearch and collec
	tive practices. \n\nearthly suns – workshop14:00 – 18:00\n\nJules Davis-Du
fayard and Sasa Ghanem-Chaney invite you for an afternoon of queer\ncollec
tive care centering the plant-ally Saint-John’s-Wort (SJW). During this\nw
orkshop they will share knowledge around what SJW has to offer in terms of
\nphysical and mental healing\, as well as take inspiration from its resil
ient\ngrowth through Amsterdam’s urban landscape. They will share tools fr
	om\nherbalism\, plant symbolism\, somatics\, collective singing\, and voca
l meditation\nworking towards community healing and care strategies. Speci
al guest A.E.Z.\nPinay will also intervene and invite the group into his g
rieving practice in the\nform of choral mourning. In his work he explores
the rhythmicality of sobs and\nsighs\, and the melody of moans and laments
\, as well as the seemingly impossible\ntask to establish a framework that
properly allows sorrow to flow.\n\nThe workshop is followed by a simple d
	inner\, between 18h – 19h\, prepared by\nmaria khatchadourian (only for wo
rkshop participants). After the dinner an event\nwill follow with a large
scale collective sonic meditation\, and a concert by\nQueer Choir Amsterda
	m. Separate tickets are available for the evening programme.\n\nThe worksh
op ticket includes the possibility to stay for the evening programme.\nYou
can note your participation when you purchase your ticket. \n\nearthly su
ns – gathering and performance program 20:00 – 22:00\n\nJoin us for an eve
ning of queer joy centering the plant-ally Saint-John’s-Wort\n(SJW). Sasa
and Jules will open the evening with an introduction to their\nresearch\,
offering Saint-John’s-Wort tea and oil for hand massage. The audience\nwil
l be invited into a collective sonic meditation\, followed by a concert by
	\nQueer Choir Amsterdam. \n\nWorkshop Price: €20 Student/Solidarity: €15\n
	\nEvening programme (from 20:00): €7.50 Student/Solidarity: €5\n\nBuy your

	kshop-gathering-and-performance-tickets-1988750346823?aff=erellivmlt].\n\n
Accessibility info: Herbal safety: Consumption of Saint-John’s Wort tea or
\nmassage oils during the evening is entirely optional. Saint-John’s Wort
is a\npowerful plant\, and can weaken the effect of certain medications. P
lease read\nthis one-page document before consuming Saint-John’s Wort: sid
	e effects and\ncontraindications\n[https://docs.google.com/document/d/1F5f

access: W139 is spread over two floors. The workshop\, dinner\, and\neveni
ng events will all happen on the ground floor\, which is wheelchair\nacces
sible. Our toilets are located on the first floor\, which can only be\nrea
ched via stairs. The nearest wheelchair accessible public toilets can be\n
found at Krasnapolsky Hotel\, 150m away\, at the start of the road (Dam Sq
uare).\nFor other questions regarding the accessibility of the building\,
	please contact\ninfo@w139.nl.\n\nSeating: There will be chairs\, benches\,

sound amplification\nfor the workshop nor the concert. Audience members w
ill be invited to join in on\nthe singing for some parts of the concert\,
this is entirely optional. \n\nCovid/infection safety: We ask everyone to

	39. Make sure not to consume food or drinks for\n30min before testing\, an
d to allow 15min for your test result to show. Mask\nwearing is encouraged
.\n\nNegative results for such self-tests are unfortunately only ~75% reli
able\n(whilst positive results are ~95% reliable)\, and all viruses are a
risk for\nimmunocompromised folks. Therefore\, if you are experiencing any
covid/cold/flu\nsymptoms on the day of the event\, we will be sorry to mi
ss you\, but ask that you\nstay home and join us at a later public event o
f the series. Please email\nmargarita@w139.nl to cancel your booking so we
can offer your spot to someone\nelse.\n\nUnfortunately\, the budget for t
	his event doesn’t allow for translation\, sign\nlanguage interpretation\,
or live image description. \n\nThis event is part of a series of three pro
