SUMMARY:Dag van de Empathie | Empathie als Verzet
DTSTAMP:20260409T005917Z
DTSTART:20260503T170000Z
DESCRIPTION:In a time of growing polarization\, war\, and inequality\, empa
thy is under\npressure. What was once seen as a foundation for living toge
ther now seems\nincreasingly pushed aside by distrust\, exclusion\, and ha
rdening attitudes.\n\nDuring the Day of Empathy\, we explore empathy not a
s an abstract ideal\, but as a\npowerful social and political stance. Empa
thy is not just about feeling\, it’s\nabout acting. It forms the basis of
	solidarity\, and therefore of resistance\nagainst dehumanization.\n\nFrom
a historical perspective\, we see how empathy has repeatedly driven people
\nto stand up against injustice. Resistance often begins with the ability
to take\nanother person’s suffering seriously\, and to see it as connected
to your own\nresponsibility. In that sense\, empathy is inseparable from
antifascism: the\nactive refusal to accept systems and ideologies that red
uce people to “the\nother\,” to something lesser\, or to an enemy.\n\nAt a
time when antifascism is sometimes demonized or framed as suspect\, we wa
nt\nto open up the conversation about what it fundamentally means: a princ
	ipled\nchoice for humanity\, equality\, and protecting one another.\n\nThi
s evening follows the movement from empathy to insight\, and from insight
to\naction. We explore how historical knowledge of resistance\, migration\
, and\nsolidarity helps us better understand the present\, and how empathy
can grow into\nengagement\, and translate into contemporary activism and
	local initiatives.\n\nEmpathy\, then\, is not just a soft force\, but a co
nnecting and mobilizing one: a\nforce that brings people together\, makes
responsibility visible\, and forms the\nbasis for collective resistance.\n
