DESCRIPTION:Join co-curators Megan Hoetger and Lawil Karama for a walkthrou

n\nLawil Karama (she/her) is a Ugandan-Dutch conceptual artist born in for
mer West\nBerlin and based in Amsterdam. Her work is deeply rooted in the
diasporic\nexperience\, often drawing from her family history as a startin
g point for\nchallenging conventional narratives and amplifying unheard vo
ices. Karama’s\ncreative path began in the world of special make-up effect
s\, which continues to\ninfluence her approach\, bringing a visceral under
standing of form\, surface\, and\npsychological tension into her current w
ork.\n\nMegan Hoetger (she/her) is an on-the-ground hard femme\, and sh
	e is also a\nperformance\, film\, and media historian\, a curator\, conven
er\, and pedagogical\ndreamer. At the core of her work is a double commitm
ent: first\, to a research\npraxis that rejects colonial and (neo)liberal
strategies of knowledge\nproduction\; and second\, to the frames of thinki
ng offered by the field of\nperformance studies with regards to time\, (im
)material transmission\, and\nembodied memory. Hoetger is particularly att
entive to what these frames of\nthinking can teach her about historiograph
ic method\, the relationality of\narchival work / the relational work of ‘
the archival\,’ and the politics of\nremembering events – from macro-level
actions in statecraft and international\nrelations to micro-level happeni
	ngs like a film screening\, poetry reading\, or\nperformance.
