DESCRIPTION:Step inside our Clean Lab to decode the secret rituals usually
hidden away in\nresearch facilities\, and for one night\, take up the lab
coat and become the\nscientist yourself.\n\nRooted in the artist’s Mexican
heritage\, this project reveals the deep colonial\nhistories embedded in
our everyday crops while breeding a speculative hybrid of\ntomato\, vanill
a\, and corn. Through an interactive screen\, you’re invited to\ndecoloniz
e botany by engineering your very own new plant species.\n\nPresented as a
sculptural altar\, Counter-Protocol of Unstable Life treats\ngenetic engi
neering not as a cold lab process\, but as a ritual act of\ntransformation
. The altar honors the laboratory as a space where nature is\nreshaped and
new forms of life are imagined\, bringing together three core\npillars of
	 understanding: Scientific\, Artistic\, and Traditional Knowledge.\n\nIn t
his interactive installation experimental proteins are exposed to real-tim
e\nfeedback from both plants (such as tomato\, maize\, vanilla\, or beans)
and humans.\nRather than forcing a fixed result\, the work allows these l
iving\, physical\nresponses to guide the outcome\, turning the protein int
o an open conversation\nbetween science and nature.\n\nUltimately\, the pi
ece challenges the idea that humans alone control biological\ndesign. By c
	reating a continuous dialogue between technology\, human choices\, and\nli
	ving plants\, it asks a fundamental question: who—or what—gets a say in\nd
	esigning the future of life?\n\nEnlarge\n[https://www.mediamatic.net/image
