DESCRIPTION:After becoming an instant classic with its first two sold out e

ganized in the amazing hall\nof the Nassaukerk in collaboration with Podiu
m Nassau\n[https://podiumnassau.nl/]\, comes back once again before the su
mmer break.\n\nIn this edition\, taking place during the celebrations for
the Nassaukerk’s 100th\nanniversary\, we bring you another legendary film
	from 1926: The General\, by\nBuster Keaton! \n\nAfter initially becoming a
bust and a big setback in Keaton’s career\, The\nGeneral has been reevalu
ated and is now considered one of the most significant\nfilms of the silen
t era.\n\nFamously described by Orson Welles as "the greatest comedy ever
made\, the\ngreatest Civil War film ever made\, and perhaps the greatest f
ilm ever made”\, The\nGeneral tells the story of the Great Locomotive Chas
e\, an episode out of the\nAmerican Civil War. This contributed to its con
troversial status\, representing\nan example of American cinema’s fascinat
ion with the American Confederacy.\nStill\, the film is universally celebr
ated as one of the greatest examples of\ncomedy in the history of film.\n\
nThe film was chosen by Joost Buis\, improvisational trombonist and lap gu
itarist\,\nwho has been at the forefront of Amsterdam’s jazz scene since t
he 1980s\, and who\nnow is among the leading musicians of the Zaal 100’s l
egendary Jazz Café. And\nZaal 100 is exactly where the ensemble who will b
e performing the film formed. \n\nHeaded by Joost Buis\, legendary trombon
ist and bandleader who has made his mark\nin the Amsterdam improvisation s
cene for the past 40 years\, the group is also\ncomposed by Kristján Marti
	nsson\, who will be at the piano\, and Yung-Tuan Ku\, at\nthe percussions.
Bringing together the mix of structure and improvisation\ntypical of the
Amsterdam improvisation and jazz music scene\, they are bound to\ngive us
the right mood to celebrate the 100 years of Nassaukerk and the whole\ncre
ative community of the Staatsliedenbuurt.\n\nAll and all\, come to church
with us and make sure not to miss this event for the\nages!\n\n\nTickets:
