SUMMARY:🎬 Cavia in Concert: Le Révélateur with live score by Sasha Sykes (a
	t Nassaukerk!)
DTSTAMP:20260920T191733Z
DTSTART:20261016T180000Z
DESCRIPTION:Philippe Garrel | 1968 | France | 67’ | no dialogue\n\nWe are v
ery happy to announce that Cavia in Concert is back to the amazing hall\no
f the Nassaukerk for another unique music performance\, brought to you by\
nFilmhuis Cavia in collaboration with Podium Nassau. \n\nWe start the new
season by bringing to you the iconic Le Révélateur by French\nNew Wave aff
iliated director Philippe Garrel. This silent experimental film was\nmade
by Garrel in his 20s when working with the radical French collective known
\nas the Zanzibar Group\, of which Garrel became the figurehead. Shot duri
ng the\nMay of 1968\, at the height of the protests that swept through Fra
nce\, the film\ndepicts a couple and their child flee in the face of an un
known\, but still\nconsiderable menace. Immersed in the desolate landscape
	s of the German Black\nForest\, shot on a beautiful 35mm high-contrast bla
ck and white film\, the film\nrecalls images of a never-revealed war to de
pict a conflict of generations: as\nthe adults try to find a new balance i
	n a post-conflict setting\, the child\nrevolts against the nuclear family\
, ultimately finding freedom in solitude.\n\nThe film’s oneiric and distur
bing qualities\, perfectly match Sasha Sykes’\nimprovised dreamy soundscap
es. Combining modular synthesis\, vocals\, and effects\,\nshe creates an i
mmersive show based on intuitive sonic exploration through\nimprovisation.
With a fascination for the shaping of frequencies and sonic\ntextures\, e
ach performance is an invitation into her musical imaginary of\nimmersive
soundscapes born from dialogues held between the performer and the\nsound
source.\n\nImprovisation and experimentation have always been central to S
asha Sykes’s\nartistry and creative process as a jazz-trained vocalist. He
r discovery of\nmodular synthesis revealed a whole new approach to improvi
sation and sonic\ncreation\, one that felt instinctive. Her solo project f
ocuses on sculpting\nsounds and exploring their nuances\, while a continuo
usly expanding field of\nsonic possibilities unfolds over time through mod
ular synthesis.\n\nListen to her music here [https://soundcloud.com/sasha-
	sykes]!\n\n\nTickets: €8 (or Cineville)\nAvailable for pre-sale HERE [http
s://filmhuis-cavia.sumupstore.com/].\n\nThe event will NOT take place in F
ilmhuis Cavia\, but in the Nassaukerk: De\nWittenkade 111.\n\nDoors & bar
open at 19:15\, film starts at 20:00.\n\n
