This has been sparked by protest movements\, shifts\nin academic discourse\, and the amplified voices of communities lo ng excluded\nfrom cultural institutions. Marking mo re than fifteen years of Framer Framed, we take the opportunity to present our new publication: Notes to Other Futures: Fifteen Years of Framer Framed. Th is anthology explores the ongoing development of alternative practices at Framer Framed and the continuous engagement in radical pedagogy, community organising and collaborative exhibition-making – re-examining history fro m a multiplicity of perspectives.

In the last fifteen years, long-st anding norms such as the autonomy of art, the neutrality of exhibition spa ces, and the hegemony of Western art history have been increasingly questi oned. This has been sparked by protest movements, shifts in academic disco urse, and the amplified voices of communities long excluded from cultural institutions. In response, artistic and curatorial approaches have emerged that foreground relationality and re-examine history from a multiplicity of perspectives.

Notes to Other Futures (2026) reflects a c ommitment to work towards possible futures: ones imagined collectively, em bedded in solidarity and open to transformation. It explores the ways of w orking, remembering, and acting that shape the continuous learning and bec oming of a cultural organisation firmly rooted in society.

In the sp irit of this approach, we’ve invited old friends, long-time collaborators, admired peers and future friends to share their own books and publishing practices.
