DESCRIPTION:Experimental jazz inspired by the music of Tokyo\n\nEver since 
	his first tour of Japan in 1989\, Benjamin Herman has been fascinated\nby 
	Tokyo’s music scene. This is evident on ‘The Tokyo Sessions’\, where\nsaxo
	phonist Benjamin Herman\, together with bassist Thomas Pol and drummer and
	\nproducer Jimmi Jo Hueting\, delves into that world once again. The album
	 was\nrecorded at Studio Dede in Tokyo\, with guest appearances by\, among
	st others\,\nnoise guitarist Otomo Yoshihide\, tenor saxophonist Tomoaki B
	aba and traditional\nwind instruments such as the shakuhachi and shō.\n\nB
	ack in the Netherlands\, Herman and Hueting processed the recordings using
	\nanalogue synthesisers\, samples and subtle overdubs. The result is an al
	bum in\nwhich jazz is blended with noise\, electronic music\, anime soundt
	racks and\nJapanese salon music\, without it becoming a mere collection of
	 disparate styles.\n\nDuring this concert\, the trio will be joined by ten
	or saxophonist Tomoaki Baba.\nHis energetic playing can be heard\, amongst
	 other things\, on his album ‘Electric\nRider’ and in the soundtrack to th
	e animated film *Blue Giant*\, in which his\nsaxophone forms the musical v
	oice of the main character\, Dai Miyamoto.
