One of\nthe defenda nts was acquitted. The comrades\, Giannis Karatsolis and Sofoklis\nToutzia rakis are accused to 21 years and 3 months and 25 years and 6 months for\n 7 robberies. At the risk of serving four-fifths of the sentence imposed. R ight\nnow\, Giannis is at Malandrino’s prison and Sofoklis at Agios Stefan o’s prison.\n\nWhat follows is their social vilification\, presenting them as individuals well\nknown to the authorities\, anti-authoritarians with a rich criminal past. In the\ncase of Giannis Karatsolis a pivotal role in his prosecution was played by his\nsurname\, as he is attributed the titl e “The son of Stelios of 17th November.”\nHis conviction was pre-decided d espite the total absence of evidence\, which was\nnevertheless deemed incr iminating\, labeling him as the mastermind. His\norchestrated identificati on is set in motion in order to secure his pre-trial\ndetention and ultima tely his conviction. The targeting of the two comrades was not\n accidental\, as they are people who from a young age had active participat ion in\nstruggles for social and class emancipation.
