DESCRIPTION:The Brazilian group Azymuth enjoyed international fame in the 1
	970s and 1980s\,\nwhen they pioneered a modern\, adventurous fusion of jaz
	z\, rock and funk. Their\nfusion of samba gave rise to the new genre Samba
	 Doido. In the mid-1990s\, just\nas their momentum seemed to be waning\, t
	hey received a much-needed boost and\nrecognition from DJs\, musicians and
	 dancers in London as favourites of the\nburgeoning Acid Jazz scene\, whic
	h also helped to breathe new life into the\ncareers of fellow Brazilian mu
	sicians Marcos Valle and Joyce. Meanwhile\,\nadventurous DJs and beatmaker
	s\, such as MF Doom\, Flying Lotus and Roni Size\,\nfound inspiration and 
	new sounds to sample in the trio’s classic recordings.\n\nFollowing the de
	aths of José Roberto Bertrami (keyboards) and Ivan Conti (drums\n& percuss
	ion)\, the sole original band member\, Alex Malheiros\, breathed new life\
	ninto the band\, which has now been in existence for over 50 years.
