SUMMARY:Autonomous Nodes for Grassroot Communication Infrastructure: Build
	Solar-powered Relays
DTSTAMP:20260701T205345Z
DTSTART:20260704T220000Z
DESCRIPTION:The goal of the workshop is to build a solar-powered radio netw
ork linking\ndifferent locations across TBD.  Participants learn about sol
ar panels\, lithium\npolymer batteries\, power management and driving micr
ocontrollers.  Our\ntelecommunications infrastructure will be made up of n
odes that can work without\nmains power or Internet uplink.\n\nThe key to
resilent and autonomous community networks is renewable energy and\noffgri
d operation.  Such nodes can be deployed in locations without power source
\nor used to conserve energy\, but also to stay online when the power grid
goes\ndown.  Therefore\, they are ideal components for providing connecti
vity to end\nusers of mesh networks.\n\nWe will work with the network depl
oyed on the previous day (Saturday)\, make it\nrun on renewable energy and
/or maybe extend it further.  The workshop builds on\nthe Saturday deploym
ent workshop\, so it assumes familiarity with Reticulum\nTransport Nodes a
nd the Reticulum Network Stack (RNS).  Participants develop the\nnodes dep
loyed at TBD further by making them autonomous\, e.g. solar powered.\n \n\
nExact time will be announced latest on Thursday.
