DESCRIPTION:Felix Schlarmann [https://splendoramsterdam.com/en/musicians/fe
	lix-schlarmann]\npresents:Book launch / Concert / Talk\n\nAn Evening of Aw
areness\, Listening and Composition.\nWhat happens when a book is not simp
ly presented\, but experienced?\n\nJoin us for an evening with Dorian Mate
	i [https://continuumfield.org/] and The\nAutobiography of Light\, a newly
published book exploring awareness\, perception\,\nand the subtle ways we
experience the world around us. Dorian’s work grows out\nof a long-standin
	g exploration of awareness\, perception\, and the relationship\nbetween in
ner experience and the world we inhabit. Rather than approaching these\nqu
estions purely as intellectual subjects\, he is interested in how they can
	 be\nencountered directly\, through attention\, listening\, sensation\, an
	d presence.\n\nThis will not be a lecture\, nor a conventional book presen
tation\, but an\nencounter between words\, sound\, attention and the peopl
e in the room. Dorian\nwill offer a glimpse into the landscape of the book
: a world in which awareness\nis fluid\, and perception is not merely a wi
ndow onto reality\, but a living\nmedium through which reality takes shape
. From there\, these ideas will move into\nmusic.\n\nFour accomplished int
ernational artists: clarinetist\, Golden Calf-winning\ncomposer and improv
	iser Alex Simu\; pianist\, musician\, communicator and\nresearcher Folkert
Oosting\; double bassist and creative facilitator Lucas Dols\;\nand drumm
er\, composer and educator Felix Schlarmann\, come together to explore\nth
is landscape through spontaneous composition and improvisation.\n\nTheir p
ractices extend beyond performance: into composition\, education\, theatre
\,\ncreative research\, communication and new forms of participation. Toge
ther\, they\nbring different ways of listening\, responding and making sen
se of what happens\nin the moment.\n\nThe moment will belong to everyone i
n the room. The music will not simply be\nperformed for the audience. The
awareness of the audience\, its attention\,\npresence\, stillness and move
ment\, becomes part of the musical experience\, subtly\nshaping how the mu
sicians perceive\, respond and improvise. Listening is no\nlonger passive\
; it becomes a form of participation.\n\nThere will also be space for conv
ersation: to ask questions\, to reflect\, and to\nexplore the ideas of The
Autobiography of Light together with Dorian and the\nmusicians.\n\nCome t
o discover the book\, listen to the music\, and notice what happens when\n
your own awareness becomes part of the experience.\n\nDorian Matei - autho
