mail.com\nAccountable temporary expedients (ATE) is a choreographic method
ology developed\nby Irina Baldini\, that uses task-based improvisation to
challenge dancers’\nability to handle confusion and uncertainty.\nKey prin
ciples of Accountable Temporary Expedients:\nUse of movement and voice: Th
e practice involves integrating dancing with\nvocalising as part of the ex
ploration\, treating the "fleetingness of sound" as a\nmaterial to engage
with.\nImprovisation and Composition: ATE is a tool for both improvising i
n the moment\nand for choreographing future work. We will make use of the
ATE card deck\, a\npractical tool complementing the methodology in use.\nI
nternal and external stimuli: attending to the body's internal signals by\
nfocusing in particular on the organs of the torso\, as well as the perfor
mer's\nenvironment.\nEmbracing Confusion: The practice challenges movers t
o attend to multiple\nstimuli at once and encourages embracing doubt and u
ncertainty to foster new\ndecision-making and “emergent embodied cognition
	”.\n\nBio\nIrina Baldini is an Amsterdam-based Finnish-Italian dancer\, ch
oreographer\, and\nartist-researcher known for her site-responsive work an
d interest in ephemeral\nexperiences. With an extensive background in clas

	tion\, and printmaking\, she integrates\ndiverse mediums in her practice.\
n\nBaldini has performed and choreographed internationally at venues inclu
ding the\nVenice Biennale and Tate Britain. Her work often utilizes improv
isation and a\n"not-aboutness" approach\, focusing on the immediacy of sen
	sation.\n\nAs a curator\, she co-founded the Amsterdam non-profit 4bid Gal
lery\, a platform\nfor experimental encounters between visual and performa
nce arts. She also\ninitiated the performance events Highs & Lows and the
body-focused B. base\nprogram.\n\nBaldini is an active educator and has au
thored three books\, including Low\nContent (2018) and Kelder (2020)\, whi
ch reflect on change\, performance\, and\nmetamorphosis and Accountable Te
mporary Expedients (2021). Beyond her work in\ndance and visual arts\, she
plays bass guitar and is lead vocalist in the punk-HC\nband Controlled Il
