	026 @ MEZRAB\n\nThe Albaidar Duo returns to Mezrab with a fresh repertoire
	\, featuring bold new\nrearrangements of classics and beloved folk pieces\
	, alongside a couple of the\nduo’s very first original songs\, based on Ma
	rwan’s poetry and inspired by the\nlandscapes of southern Syria and by uni
	versal beauty. These tunes promise a new\nintensity within a warm\, folky 
	atmosphere\, with melodies carefully woven into\nthis intimate chamber per
	formance.\n\nAlbaidar Duo is a unique collaboration between two independen
	t artists that\nstarted in 2014 while they were members of the Prague- bas
	ed ensemble Ziriab. In\n2023\, Kristýna and Marwan published music videos 
	as a tribute to Arab divas\nAsmahan and Layla Mourad. In May 2024\, they p
	erformed at Kettle’s Yard gallery\nin Cambridge\, responding to an exhibit
	ion by Syrian visual artist Issam Kourbaj.\nDrawing inspiration from one o
	f the recurring themes in Kourbaj’s artwork\, wheat\nseeds\, they took the
	 name Albaidar as a symbol of new life cycles and the\nrecognition of what
	 is essential and vital.\n\nAl baidar/البيدر is a place where wheat\, barl
	ey\, or other grains are cleansed\nand stacked after harvesting. Reflectin
	g on essential themes such as love\,\nnature\, homeland\, and more\, the d
	uo finds their voice by presenting the best of\nArabic music in intimate a
	rrangements\, enhancing the traditional timbres of the\noud\, daf\, riq\,
