	 weapon of mass destruction was deployed in\nJapan’s Kanto region\, the Th
	ird World War broke out. 31 years later – 2019. Amid\npreparations for nex
	t year’s Olympic Games\, occasional glimpses of the glory\ndays of Neo-Tok
	yo – the megalopolis built on Tokyo Bay – can be seen. Kaneda\,\nthe leade
	r of a bōsōzoku motorbike gang\, leaves a trail of destruction in his\nwak
	e as he rides through the desolate streets of Neo-Tokyo. One evening\, Tet
	suo\,\none of the gang members\, bumps into a peculiar test subject from a
	 government\nexperiment. Stunned\, Kaneda and the gang watch as Tetsuo and
	 the mysterious boy\nare taken away to a military laboratory. To rescue Te
	tsuo\, Kaneda attempts to\nbreak into the military facility\, where he dis
	covers that Tetsuo has developed\nsupernatural powers. Meanwhile\, one of 
	the test subjects in the special nursery\npredicts the awakening of the to
	p-secret AKIRA. Tetsuo tests his new powers\nduring his journey through th
	e underworld where AKIRA slumbers.\n\nMelkweg often hosts different types 
	of programmes at the same time\, such as\nconcerts\, club nights and films
