DESCRIPTION:A participatory performance about democracy. Teatro Munganga in
	 Amsterdam\,\ndirected by Claudia Maoli and Carlos Lagoeiro\, is since 198
	7 a house of\nperformance\, music and resistance. In this performance\, Te
	atro Munganga will\nstage an event on the state of democracy in the presen
	t day. Our point of\ndeparture is that democracy isn’t dead. It is wounded
	 and in need of attention\nand care.\nHow could we touch democracy with ca
	re\, and in turn be touched its vitality\, so\nthat we feel compelled to c
	are for her\, just like we would care for someone we\nlove? This performan
	ce invites voices of democracy to come out of the shadows.\nTogether\, we 
	will listen to them and share what we hear when we undo ourselves\nof lear
	ned systems and beliefs.\nSound by sound\, word by word\, image by image\,
	 we will create a reflection of the\nstate of democracy nowadays and maybe
	 also create a vision of a future where\ndemocracy is right in our hands. 
	Not as a way to control her\, but as a way to\ncare for her. What are the 
	voices of democracy that you would like to lift out\nof the shadows?\nWher
	e do you encounter them?\nWhat do they tell us about democracy? On May 30\
	, 2026\, from 16.00 to 20.00 in\nTeatro Munganga\, all participants are in
	vited to join a procession where we’ll\ncarry democracy from the outside i
	nto the inside of the theatre\, where we will\neat together\, listen\, tal
	k and create.\nThere will be music\, poems\, performance\, a testimonial d
	ocumentary\, and a couple\nof short considerations to help us feel the dee
	per layers of democracy. This is\nan artistic collaboration with the Europ
	ean project Democracy in Action\,\ncoordinated by Leiden University.
